Joe Cayre started out his career in the media and entertainment industry. In the 1970’s he founded Caytronics, which became one of the largest Spanish record and music publishing companies in America. Shortly thereafter he founded GoodTimes Entertainment, a movie licensing and production company that distributed video programs to all 50 states and every major developed country in the world. He served as President, Co-Owner and CEO of the company for 16 years. In 2000, Joe Cayre founded Midtown Equities of New York, a family-owned and operated real estate investment and development firm. Midtown is a well recognized name in real estate development in today’s marketplace, with current real estate holdings that include retail, commercial and residential developments across the country. His most well known asset is the joint acquisition with Larry Silverstein and the Goldman families of a 99-year lease on the World Trade Center in New York City. At $3.2 billion, the acquisition represented the largest real estate transaction in New York City history. He currently serves as the chairman of Midtown Equities.
Joe is a leading New York philanthropist, serving on the boards of dozens of religious organizations and charitable institutions. He is a founder of the Sephardic Community Alliance (and sits on their board of trustees), Mt Sinai Hospital both in NY and Miami Beach, Edmond J. Safra Synagogue of NJ, Chairman’s Circle NYU Langone Hospital and the list goes on and on. Joe Cayre and family have impacted the lives of thousands.
